Most of us have cell phones these days. I am assuming that, if you are reading this, you have a cell phone. I have one, and my wife has one for use in an emergency. I prefer that she keep it with her – especially when she is driving.
Now, not surprisingly, new research from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, shows that using a cell phone while driving makes you 4 times more likely to be in an accident. And, chalk up the idea of using a hands free kit to avoid being in an accident to urban legend.
How does this effect you? If you are driving, pull over before you use your cell phone. Limit calls to emergencies. And, wait and see if your insurance company starts sending you literature about the dangers of cell phones. If you dont use one, ask them for a discount – especially after they send you their materials!
