My friend, Wendy York, has some great information on her website. If you have a discrimination case, harassment, elder abuse or nursing home case, you should look at her website.
One of the other pages on her website is about legal myths. Wendy points out these three myths:
- There are too many frivolous lawsuits
- Jury verdicts are not based on reason or common sense
- Lawsuits drive up the cost of malpractice insurance
Wendy has links to articles that debunk these myths.
These myths are driven by the insurance companies. If insurance companies can keep you from obtaining what you are entitled to, then they will increase their profits. There is no evidence that insurance companies decrease premiums when lawsuits are not filed against wrongdoers. Instead, the insurance companies just pad their pockets with the savings.
The next time you hear one of these myths, tell the person to read these articles.
