H&R Block is being sued by the California Attorney General over its tax refund loans. Basically, the California Attorney General is of the opinion that Block is not disclosing the true costs of the loans, acting as a debt collect and engaging in deceptive practices. Block, of course, denies the allegations.
I don’t know enough about this suit to comment on the facts. I do know this: anytime someone wants to loan you money, you need to look carefully at the terms. Do not accept what they tell you are the terms. Read the terms for yourself and figure them out. When it makes sense to you, then you can make a determination about whether the loan is right for you.
I will keep an eye on this for you. It should be interesting to see the outcome.
