Here is a distburing story out of Kentucky. One of the class action lawsuits coming out of the fen-phen cases. Apparently, Kentucky lawyers who settled these cases took a fee over 50% of the total settlement amount. They also put $20 million into a foundation and then made themselves directors of the foundation.
This is bad. There is no explanation that will justify this behavior. It is abhorrent. The attorneys involved should be ashamed. The judge who approved this has already been reprimanded.
Class action litigation is different than a regular lawsuit. It is expensive and time consuming. There is a huge risk involved. But, this behavior is unacceptable.
