The New Jersey Trial Lawyers want to limit the solicitation of accident victims. Here is a blurb, courtesy of Consumer Attorneys of California:
The Association of Trial Lawyers of America-New Jersey is asking the state Supreme Court to ban attorneys from directly soliciting accident victims. The practice of contacting victims has increased after the state’s passage of the Open Public Records Act in 2003, which makes it easier to access police reports.
This is a great idea. I am very anti-solicitation. Accident victims know how to find attorneys. They do not need the added pressure of solicitation.
If an attorney solicits you, you should go find someone else to represent you.
