My advice is simple: talk to an attorney. But, of course, I have a vested interest in that, right? I mean, in my perfect world, no one is sued. But, if you are sued, my next perfect world would be that you call me. I want to help you. But, even if you don’t call me, you should call an attorney.
Okay, but you still think my advice is biased? Read this. A debt collection lawyer who sues people is telling this to you as well. He says “If you can afford it, hire an attorney. This is critical. And don’t make the decision that you can’t afford an attorney until you have at the very least talked to some attorneys.”
So, there you have it. If you get sued on a debt, go talk to an attorney. That should be step one.
